I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. My approach to therapy is eclectic and holistic drawing on multiple modalities specific to the needs of my clients. In our sessions, we’ll explore patterns and ways of relating to others and the world. We’ll identify your survival strategies that developed early in life and how they’re showing up in adulthood and no longer serve you. We’ll explore how you’re emotions are showing up in your body and employ various mindfulness strategies to manage and regulate your body so that you can move into the next moment with more clarity and intention rather than on auto-pilot. I will provide psychoeducation around the brain and nervous system so you more clearly understand exactly what’s happening in your body. I also place an emphasis on how we’re nurturing and nourishing the body with regards to sleep, eating, and movement.
Holistic Psychotherapy
Because we hold and experience emotions not just in the mind but in the body, using a holistic approach to address the mind-body connection is a powerful tool in working towards wellness.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness is essentially the practice of returning to the present. I use a number of mindfulness exercises (don’t worry-I won’t tell you to just go meditate) to move away from the anxiety of the future or the pain of the past and shift into the present moment. This allows us to move through more challenging situations with intention versus reaction or impulsivity.
Talk Therapy
General talk therapy gives us the space verbalize feelings, develop insight and clarity in our patterns of behavior, promote communication, and process everyday stressors so that we can externalize all thoughts jumbled in our heads and find relief and strategies in how to proceed.
